Are Forehead Lines Genetic?

There are some things that you just can’t escape no matter how you try. For many people, that’s the inevitability of forehead lines appearing as you age. As your skin produces less and less collagen and elastin, these lines will naturally occur, often in men but in women as well.

Forehead Line Genetics

To compound the issue, some people naturally form deeper forehead lines than others. Strong facial muscles contribute to this problem, meaning very expressive people will see more noticeable lines. Several genetic traits can cause forehead lines including:

  • A natural aptitude for theatre, singing or expressive poetry
  • Genetically strong facial muscles (muscle use speeds up the creation of forehead lines)
  • You could genetically produce less collagen or elastin, or your body’s genetics could shut down production at an earlier age

Of course, there are many other reasons that forehead lines can appear, but genetics can play a big part on multiple angles. Naturally talented singers in particular have been known to develop deep creases for example. Anyone with anger management issues will also see a noticeable acceleration in forehead creasing.
